Screening & Panel Discussion with 5 Photographic Artists

A one-night-only screening of selected works from 5 photographic-based artists’ backgrounds work in film, television, and advertising as well as their current practices. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion about the artists’ backgrounds and current work exhibiting in the museum’s exhibition Looking West.

In conversation: Brett Foraker, James Hayman, Daniel Sackheim, Tatiana Wills, and Russell Young.

Private Collectors’ Dinner

A red carpet private collectors’ dinner celebrating Santa Monica Art Museum’s opening and exhibition Looking West.

Following a red carpet entry, there will be a four course dinner and dessert by Bar Monette, complimentary drinks, and a private tour of available artworks from our inaugural exhibition, Looking West, as well as an introduction to works from our upcoming programming.

This event is in partnership with Outreach Through the Arts (OTTA), a nonprofit created in 2011 by Santa Monica City Council member and Mayor pro tem, Lana Negrete, providing scholarships to underserved youth in Los Angeles.

Proceeds resulting from this private dinner celebration help support the living artists, all California based, in our program, and a portion of proceeds will also be donated to OTTA.

Meet Augmented Reality Artist & Book Release with Dhiren Dasu

Dhiren Dasu / Shapeshifter 7 will be at SMAM for a book release, meet-and-greet as well as tour of exhibiting artwork for his new, augmented reality (AR) enabled book Simulacre by Hat & Beard Press.

RSVP required for free entry at the time of the event. Copies of Simulacre will be available to purchase at the museum.
